Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone!

I thought I would share a very special card with you. This one is one that I received from my daughter, Amy. Amy was organized enough to get her cards out...I was not! I made hundreds and hundreds each year but can't seem to get my cards done for Christmas. Hmmm, sounds like a good New Year's Resolution to me!

So here is a sweet little card from a stamp that Amy bought at Polkadots and More. I love the color selection...the paper was a limited edition paper from a company out of Canada called Harmonie. Amy adds her own little doodles around the outside. I just love when she embellishes like this.

So thank you sweet Amy for the little pick me up this year. This proud momma enjoys seeing how your creativity grows each year! I love you.

Show & Tell

I just had to share this Christmas card! This is a card made by Jan Wiley that she has been working on since October. It is exquisite! It is over the top...Wowzers, she is my hero!

Jan used a special little wash on the window frame with a stain from Tim Holtz. She cut out each window pane and attached clear acrylic. This layer was attached to the bottom layer which was colored with Copics, including the window pane on the first layer! Stickles, colorful matting and absolutely beautiful.

Jan's work reminds me of another friend that sends me a Christmas card, Jane from Green Bay...they are both over the top with their workmanship!

Nice job Jan, I will treasure your card.

Gift Ideas

I made these up yesterday and I thought I would share them on the blog. They are super simple to make up and great for a teacher, co-worker or anyone that you want to give a cute little handmade gift to.

First I picked up a package (12) of the Office Max note pads. I cut the double sided cardstock. The width is cut to the width of the the notepad and with the length I added 1 inch to the top. This is to glue to the top of the pad and wrap around to the back of the pad. I used my 1/4 inch score tape for the top and two strips onto the cardboard back to adhere the notepad cover. Then I just decorated with a cute saying and some scraps!

Have fun & Watch our Blog for some more fun ideas!

MidNight Magic Was A Huge Success!

Q: What is Midnight Magic in Mukwonago Wisconsin?
A: Midnight Magic is held the first Saturday of every year and the whole town takes part. It is full of festivities, vendor activities and even a parade! Every year Therese at Polkadots says Thank You! to her customers and provides make-n-takes from 9:30am to 9:00pm.

Q: Is Deb always there?
A: Deb has been there for the last few years and always makes a point to spend the day at Pokadots. This year she did a little make-n-take using our Copics (Santa card) and the little mini gift pail (picture to follow a little later) using the special edition Fiskars penguin and tree punches. (Note Polkadots still have a couple of the penguin punches left, call up and get one before they are all gone, they are only offered once and they are super cute).

There was also a little gift card holder made with an A2 envelope, super simple. Another item was the little card with the sparkly presents...again the special edition Fiscars punch in the shape of a present (one or two left) and the secret is clear shipping tape with glitter for the sparkle. This is only a few of the items, this big make-n-take was a little book using a kit from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Polkadots was also able to raise $426.00 this year with 100% of the proceeds going to the local food pantry!
